Linda Lenart McNulty is an encaustic artist and instructor who is known for her inventive spirit, and her ability to push encaustic wax into new territories.
Her encaustic work reflects her degrees in dance, sculpture and fine art, her decade working with encaustic wax, and her love of interdisciplinary art.
Linda creates her own visual and kinesthetic language through vibrant layered color and buried marks. Her paintings are sculptural in form and reflect the echoing patterns of nature with their stacked reflective intaglio, playful brush stroke and scraping, reverse Sgraffito imagery, and obscured transparent relief surfaces that utilize unusual techniques such as wax peels, textured embeds, accretion patches and smokey pigment rubs.
These techniques she teaches as Retreat Workshops in the Luminous Encaustics Studio located in Oberlin, Ohio.
In her retreat workshops, she guides students into letting go into the intuitive play of wax therapy, to unleash their inherent creativity, while opening their understanding of color theory, the elements of design, and the principles of art, for improved technique, therapeutic release and connection to a community of other creatives.
She has worked as a consultant to galleries, art restorers and as a mentor to other artists, bringing her mastery of encaustic painting to artists of all mediums.
