Baking Polymer

Well, I baked the praying woman today, in parts. It went very well and I am going to give you a wonderful tip, if you ever are to find yourself curing your polymer figure. Here it is:

Use a turkey bag to wrap your polymer figure in. It saves your oven from having to be washed out afterward, and really keeps the fumes down overall.

I let her cool slowly after I cured her (cooked her), and I did not open the bag. After she was cool, I took the bag out to the garage and opened it and let it sit. Stinky! I think I won’t reuse that bag. They’re inexpensive enough and I am happy to get away from the tiny toaster ovens I had been using to bake my pieces in, to keep my oven (and myself) from fumes. The toaster oven tended to burn small parts.

Oh yes, make sure and cover small parts with paper towel and tin foil. That will keep them from burning wherever you bake them.

Also, it’s important to invest in an oven thermometer if you don’t want undercured or overcured pieces. So just do it.
