Baby Gameboard in process

Here is a new piece, yet I’ve been working on it a long time! To me, it is reminiscent of the Cooties game I played as a child. I loved that game! I happen to be infatuated with the concept of Detachment and Regeneration, on the physical, emotional and spiritual levels.  I have been casting and resculpting these little babies for ages, and fighting with the encaustic medium to accept little magnets in their joints, so they have limbs that pop on and off. If you’ve ever worked in encaustic medium, you might guess this is quite a feat, since in warm weather the magnets will not grip the wax, and in cold weather, the magnets will pop out of the wax. But, as happens if you only let the Holy Spirit guide you in your studio (or lab), I woke up one morning with the solution. It seems so easy and obvious now. Well, everything holds together with my new found solution, so I quickly whipped these babies into shape, and now I can move on to painting the gameboard. Check in later, if you’re curious….
