Redefining Relics

Since I cleaned up my studio I’ve had lots of unusual objects from my past come to the surface, like this African Money Knife. Susan gave me this relic 20 years ago, and there it stayed, stashed in my studio, a gorgeous relic from another continent, out of the past.
This object is forged metal, wrapped in removable animal hide. If the owner wanted to cut something, they would just unwrap it- the blade still would be fantastic with a little sharpening! If they wanted to use it as money, they would just wrap it back up and trade it.
Well, this relic plays a very important part in the African Santos I am working on. I will post it as soon as I can, in progress, but for now, I thought you’d enjoy seeing the money knife outside of the piece. Soon this relic will be redefined.
Have a blessed day! May your creativity flow!
