Finding Peace in the Clutches of Cancer

Finding Peace in the Clutches of Cancer

I have been wanting to write to you about my sister Cheri, a glass artist, and what she is going through right now.

She is going through Cancer.

But Cheri is a very private person, so I am not actually going to talk about her process. I have to talk about my process as I am with her.

For me, going through this Cancer as her sister, my entire world has become unpeeled.

As Cheri sorts out her life and her goals and resolutions, like healing against all odds, especially the odds of a terrible prognosis, we, her sisters, family and closest friends, rally around her with fresh juices, enzyme concoctions, Reiki, Prayer, Meditation, Radiation appointments and appointments with her Healer, Surgeries, Ionic Footbaths, Texts, Lemons and Love. But we have had to look death in the eye ourselves.

After facing the possibility of her death, I went about subduing the animal inside of me with homeopathic remedies like Sepia, Ignatia and Phosphoricum Acidum, and experienced two full out healings from God and His Ministers. I have had to come to that place where I completely let go of all outcomes and place everything into our Maker’s hands. Now I am looking forward with Hope, Faith and a Living Joy, that must exist in order for Cheri’s healing to take place. Her healing must exist in a space of peace that we accept from God and intentionally project into the situation. Which is what prayer is anyway.

And that brings me to the Studio. Of course, everything brings me to the Studio…

Getting into my studio has been a real place of peace. Entering in and firing up the skillets of warm wax, releases that glorious smell that I have come to love. Color fills my eyes as I mix and remix the color blocks for my Luminous Encaustic Kits. I take a deep breath, thank God while I strike out at my own pace. My pace has gotten very relaxed and open. Now, more than ever, I am happy to find this place of refuge in place for me to unwind.

It would seem that if you have your spiritual practices, your meditations, your prayer life, and your studio – at the ready, on call- ready to slip into like soft pajamas- or drink in like steaming tea, then going through a crisis is doable. I meet with the Holy Spirit each day in my studio anyway- it is a practice of mine- so now, when I’m in crisis- here I come, into the studio to mix color, commune with God’s Spirit, and find my peace.

And I pray for peace for all of you, that you may have peace when you need it. And I pray that you will put things into place now for a day of crisis to come, when you will need to pull out everything you’ve got.

And, as always, be blessed!

-Linda
